DescriptionLooted head of lamassu , cut into several pieces by the plunderers. From Khorsabad, Iraq. C. 710 BCE. Iraq Museum.jpg
English: This lamassu's head came from Khorsabad. It was illegally unearthed and cut into several pieces for easier transportation and smuggling to a neighboring country in the 1990s. The intelligence intercepted the operation and many plunderers got executed in public. The mastermind of the looting was a police colonel. The Iraq Museum intentionally did not repair the defragmented head; a lesson to future generations. From The Royal Palace of Sargon II at Khorsabad, Iraq. Circa 710 BCE. On display at the Assyrian Gallery of the Iraq Museum in Baghdad, Iraq.
