This bullet-impacted brick was the first to be removed from the Massacre site prior to its demolition. Note the circular markings, made by the Chicago Police Department ballistics detectives in their investigations to determine how many gunmen were likely to have participated in the Massacre, and what weapons were used.
The St. Valentine's Day Massacre was the name given to the Winter 1929 machine-gun slaying of seven men in a Prohibition-Era conflict between the two most powerful Chicago gangs: the South Side Italian squad led by Al "Scarface" Capone and the North Side Irish/German gang led by George "Bugs" Moran.
