Orientation of the Dolmen de Fades to the South East[modifier le code]
The corridor opens to the south east. The first question must be is it orientated to the sunrise on the shortest day of the year? The entrance into the antechamber is through a circular entrance which must be stepped into. The entrance to the second/final chamber is similar except that the base is separated by six inches, giving the entrance a stem like appearance. This stem would focus the sunlight towards the centre of the chamber, where the dead are buried? (there are necklaces in Maurice Rigal's Olonzac museum which suggest grave goods) marking the turn of the year and the promise of spring and renewal.

Beads and fragments of pottery are associated with the Dolmens in the area. -

Someone might suggest that if you stand there on the 21st December you'd get a quick answer. Not so, the ridge is covered with pine trees which block the sunrise in the southeast. The back of the Dolmen may be aligned with the high summits of the Black Mountains. Again a few pine trees prevent an exact check.
The suggestion for such an alignment is due to the fact that the site is contempory with Newgrange in Ireland whose most famous orientation is its 'sun box' that allows sunlight enter the back chamber at sunrise on the shortest days of the year.
